Final Destination Bloodlines currently dominates Man with No Past 78–22
Death's Rube Goldberg design routs the 2025 action film.
The Verdict Class of 2025
Lipovsky and Stein's kill sequences — each one a closed system of cause and effect, the camera inventorying the room's hazards before the chain reaction begins — give Bloodlines a formal structure that Bamford's Man with No Past, built from more conventional action choreography, doesn't replicate. The Final Destination franchise's innovation was making the environment the villain, and Bloodlines extends that innovation with set pieces that treat every ordinary object as a potential murder weapon. Bamford's solo-operative action has competent fight staging but lacks the participatory puzzle-solving that makes Bloodlines' kills engaging beyond their violence. The franchise's formal toolkit outperforms the standalone's conventional one.
