GoodFellas currently beats Taxi Driver 60–41
The crime epic upsets the character study — GoodFellas' energy leads.
The Verdict Director's Cut
The Copa tracking shot — through the kitchen, past the cooks, the table appearing from nowhere — is Scorsese's most famous camera move because it makes the audience feel what Henry feels: doors opening, rules not applying, the entire world rearranging itself around a man whose only qualification is that he knows the right people. Taxi Driver has nothing this exhilarating because exhilaration isn't what Bickle's world provides. The lead says exhilaration outperforms dread when both are Scorsese at peak. The door that opens beats the cab that circles.
