Jurassic Park III
47% overall puts Jurassic Park III near the middle of the pack. The round data tells a sharper story: strong in semis, a different film in finals. Ninety-two minutes with nothing to prove, which makes the runt of the franchise oddly the easiest one to defend. It carries no world-building and no grand theme, only a rescue gone wrong and a scramble for the coast, and against a ballot of self-important blockbusters that plainness reads almost as a virtue.
Synopsis
In need of funds for research, Dr. Alan Grant accepts a large sum of money to accompany Paul and Amanda Kirby on an aerial tour of the infamous Isla Sorna. It isn't long before all hell breaks loose and the stranded wayfarers must fight for survival as a host of new -- and even more deadly -- dinosaurs try to make snacks of them.
Thrives in the middle rounds at 60%, dispatching most of the field. But the finals tell a different story at 16% — the films that make it that far are the ones Jurassic Park III can't handle.
Against Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the margin is razor-thin: 50%. The most contested matchup in Jurassic Park III's record. On the other end of the spectrum: Battle at Big Rock at 100% is a comfortable win, while Jurassic Park at 18% is the matchup Jurassic Park III can't crack.
Jurassic Park III handles Jurassic World in the semis but can't get past Jurassic Park in the final (18%). The tournament nemesis is clear.
