Paddington 2
At 37% overall, Paddington 2 looks like an underdog — but by the time it reaches a final, it outperforms. Paul King's sequel has no business being this good, and that gap between expectation and delivery is its sharpest weapon on a ballot. Opponents arrive prepared for a kids' film and find something far more difficult to dismiss.
Synopsis
Paddington, now happily settled with the Browns, picks up a series of odd jobs to buy the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy, but it is stolen.
From 34% to 60% across the bracket. Paddington 2 is one of those rare films that improves against harder opposition — the final-round version is a different competitor than the one that started.
Toy Story 2 is the easy matchup at 75%. The Dark Knight is the kryptonite at 20%. The gap between best and worst opponent says a lot about what Paddington 2 can and can't handle.
