Star Wars
Star Wars at 48% is about as even as it gets. The voters are divided, and 149 matchups haven't settled the debate. The film that invented the modern blockbuster carries institutional weight no competitor can match. The question is whether reverence translates to active preference, or whether voters treat it as the safe pick they feel obligated to make.
Synopsis
Princess Leia is captured and held hostage by the evil Imperial forces in their effort to take over the galactic Empire. Venturesome Luke Skywalker and dashing captain Han Solo team together with the loveable robot duo R2-D2 and C-3PO to rescue the beautiful princess and restore peace and justice in the Empire.
The split doesn't budge. 52% in the opening round, 40% in the semis, 44% in the final — Star Wars is contested at every stage, with neither side able to pull away.
Alien is the nearest thing to a true rival at 53%. The margin is slim and the outcome still feels unsettled. The extremes tell a clear story — 67% against The Avengers at one end, 20% against Blade Runner at the other.
Original or Sequel? Classic Sci Fi is Star Wars's bracket: it clears the early rounds consistently but meets its ceiling in the final against Blade Runner (20%).
