The Exorcist
A strong film that's strongest when the bracket is deepest. The Exorcist at 65% across 433 matchups is already above average — and the late-round numbers push it higher. The reputation is so enormous it functions almost independently of the film itself. Voting against it feels like a statement, which means even people who haven't seen it recently give it serious consideration. It leads both William Friedkin films tracked on BingeBracket. At 1.0s average, voters make up their minds quickly — a gut preference rather than a weighed comparison.
Synopsis
When a charming 12-year-old girl takes on the characteristics and voices of others, doctors say there is nothing they can do. As people begin to die, the girl's mother realizes her daughter has been possessed by the Devil. Her daughter's only possible hope lies with two priests and the ancient rite of demonic exorcism.
Already strong at 52% in the opening round, stronger at 76% in the semis, and strongest at 81% in finals. The Exorcist has a finishing gear most films on the platform can't access.
The closest rivalry is with The Shining at 52% — a matchup tight enough that a handful of votes could flip the lead. On the other end of the spectrum: Hereditary at 95% is a comfortable win, while Psycho at 0% is the matchup The Exorcist can't crack.
The Exorcist leads William Friedkin's filmography on BingeBracket, though only 2 films are tracked so far. Blue Chips at 61% is the comparison point.
