A Clockwork Orange

Underdog Below average but still in the conversation
1971 · Science Fiction, Crime

A Clockwork Orange sits at 42% across 26 matchups — below average, but close enough that a shift in the voting pool could change the picture. Kubrick's ultraviolence remains genuinely uncomfortable, which is exactly why it polarises every matchup it enters. Voters either respect the provocation or refuse to reward it. 1.8s average. Quick enough to suggest a snap judgment, slow enough to involve a flicker of thought.

Synopsis

In a near-future Britain, young Alexander DeLarge and his pals get their kicks beating and raping anyone they please. When not destroying the lives of others, Alex swoons to the music of Beethoven. The state, eager to crack down on juvenile crime, gives an incarcerated Alex the option to undergo an invasive procedure that'll rob him of all personal agency. In a time when conscience is a commodity, can Alex change his tune?
